The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) is the global umbrella organization for the organic movement uniting more than 750 members in 110 countries.  Recognition of innovative developments and new ways of navigating the ever more complex world we live in is essential for encouraging exciting progress in the organic agriculture movement.  “IFOAM is extremely pleased to cooperate with Rapunzel for the One World Award initiative.  The Principles of Organic Agriculture exemplify what the OWA is all about and IFOAM is the perfect partner to represent such an esteemed award,” exclaimed IFOAM Executive Director, Angela B. Caudle.

“As organic agriculture has become a truly global option for a more sustainable and healthy world, it is stimulating that IFOAM unites with a prestigious and experienced company as Rapunzel to create a prize that highlights those who are leading in ecological production,” says Alberto“Pipo”Lernoud, IFOAM Vice President and Jury member of the One World Award.

The OWA will recognize outstanding engagement and achievements in providing creative and high impact solutions in the area of environmental protection and fair livelihoods. It also aims to encourage more engagement for a future worth living and for peaceful community building.

After extensive and careful preparation the stage has been set to call for nominations for the award. The OWA webpage ( has been launched in mid December and provides now all necessary information to consider or even better to submit nominations for this new, but already prestigious award, which will come along with a 25.000 Euro cash prize. The selected four runner- ups will each receive a 2.000 Euro cash prize. Strictly enforced deadline for nominations is February 29th 2008.

The first OWA festive award ceremony will be on June 19th 2008 in conjunction with the IFOAM Organic World Congress in Modena, Italy.
